    Trim Tag Basics

In trying to better understand my 67 convert, I was looking at my trim tag and was only able to translate parts of the codes. Style-67 467. What does the 467 represent? Trim-414 BA. What does the BA represent? Body- S 0403. 0403? Finally Paint-972 AA. Whats up with the AA??? I understand the first parts of the codes, It's just the suffix, and what exactly it means I can't find reference to.

Also on my VIN plate, after the embossed Chevrolet there appears two small embossed "oo"'s. These appear above the VIN number. What does that mean?

I know that this may seem elementary to all of you seasoned guys and gals but I am still learning.

    Again, thanks for the help.

I'll take a shot. Paint 972 AA is white for a 67. All exterior codes for 67 carried an AA suffix. Style 67 467 indicates a 67 Convertible, a 437 would be the coupe. Trim 414 BA should be Med Bright Blue (414) the B indicates again a convertible, not sure what the A indicates.

Mark --- Chris gave you the bulk of the info; I'll add the following: The 414 trim code is bright blue VINYL, if 415, it would siginify leather. The BA is convertible (base configuration; ie. without A31, A82, A85, C07, M35). It's only because your car's body was produced at St.Louis, and that you have a non-black interior, that we can tell that. The S 0403 tells you that it was the 403rd convertible body produced at St.Louis. There were also A bodies, produced at Ionia Mich. The AA after the paint code of 972 is acknowledgement of the fact that the guys on the paint line had a drinking problem. Seriously, this is just the way St.Louis body trim tags were stamped; some will say that the double A is a carryover from the 2-tone paint jobs of other car lines, and it means that both top an bottom colors were the same. A-bodied trim tags will have no letters after the 972.

Small "oo"s after the word Chevrolet are really "DD" for delivery date. The dealer was supposed to stamp the day/month that the car arrived (or was sold ?); very few did.
