    Issac,
I seem to be answering all your questions. I had the same problem with my 57, right after I assembled the engine. I wanted to eliminate the problem, so I purchased an after market, new, oil pressure gauge, and plastic line, with the proper brass fittings, and hooked it up to the fitting in the rear of the block. The pressure came right up to 50 lbs. After the motor warmed up, at an idle, it dropped to 15/20 lbs. I removed the 57 oil pressure gauge, and sent it to a re-builder in my area. When I replaced the original gauge it worked as it should, 15/20 lbs at warm idle. Good luck.
