Re: Radio Repair for 1970 Radio
It depends on what you mean by 'repair' and who does the work. To some, repair means make the existing chassis essentially functional and ignore any cosmetic issues (scratched lens, bezel, Etc.). To others it means a full 'restoration' with both electronics and cosmetic issues addressed. And, there's a third alternative that includes going through the radio electronics, replacing any/all components that are known to 'age' and deteriorate (like certain capacitors) as well as adding Delco Remy documented circuitry 'improvements' that were addressed by various service bulletins.
The typical charge for a 'basic' repair by a local radio shop in a major metro area is on the order of a $65 minium bench fee + as required parts and excess labor charges if the repair time extends beyond the 1-2 hours included in their basic bench fee.- Top
