I've noticed some slots in the track around the rear convertible deck lid of my 67. Are these water drains, and if so did they once have drain tubes to exit the rear compartment? Thanks.

Re: 67 Convertible Rear Deck Lid - Drains?
Kirk, I'm sure it's just like my 63. Water drains into the fiberglass track that runs under the rear clip, just in front of the deck hinges. Each hinge has two bolts into the track. Next the water runs to either side and exits the car just above each rear tire.
I wrote a Restorer article about Deck Lid Hinge Repair. The article is in Volume 32, Number 4, Spring 2006. It shows the damage that occurs when that drainage track is not kept clear and the water is allowed to sit in the car.

All convertibles have drain slots about 1" long in the bottom of the deck lid gutter section about 1" inboard of the hinge arms on each side; they drain outboard through holes in the vertical wall of the underbody into the rear wheel opening. See the assembly manual, UPC 1 Bolt/Weld, Sheet B9, View "A". Run a piece of stiff wire through the slot to make sure the drain passage is clear into the wheel opening.- Top

That makes a little more sense as I have been detailing my wheel wells recents and saw slots located in the tops. I just wasn't sure how the water got from the slots in deck lid rim to the slot in the wheel well. I assumed there was some sort of tube needed. I will definitely check it out tonight. Thanks.- Top
