Keep in mind that when oil vapor condenses, you have liquid oil. So, ultimately, there's really no difference between liquid oil and oil in vapor form.

      John,

I've found a picture of the air-oil separator and it is installed. If I knew how to attached the picture on the discussion board, I'd do it. If you want the photo, I can send directly to your e-mail if you want. Just let me know. Thank you. Dan K.

        John,

I continue to find 10W-30W diesel oil at the local farm supply store.
I have on rare occasions found 5W-30 diesel oil at the same place.

Verle, I have heard that farm stores, motor cyles shops, lawn mower joints, etc. all sell good oil for our antiques.
We certainly talk about oil enough on this DB. After the engine is broken in we don't really have to worry about the type of oil anyhow. Back to work. John

I disagree. I highly recommend AVOIDING use of current SM oil in vintage engines. Use only CJ-4.

If you will be normally doing cold starts below 15 deg. F, use the 5W-40 CJ-4, which is available at Walmart in addition to 15W-40.

              Duke,

I can only find the new CI-4 diesel oil in the Seattle area. Are you recommending that we search out the CJ-4, or were you just saying to stay away from the regular oils?

CI-4 is the "old" spec that is now superseded by CJ-4. Either CI-4, CI-4 Plus, or CJ-4 is acceptable. Most retail outlets that I visit are now only carrying CJ-4.

Oops, I've been caught typing before thinking again. Sorry about that. Thanks for the message.
