    bying a C1 Corvette 1958/60 in the U.S

    Hello Corvette friends,

My name is Michael and i'm living in the Netherlands. I'm thinking of bying a C1 Corvette, type 1958/1960, but first i have to sell my other cars. In Europe is not much choice, so i'm thinking of looking in the U.S. My budget will be about 70000 dollars, depending on the euro/dollar rate. Is it possible to buy a very good, nice car with matching numbers for this price? Witch dealers/garages/specialists sell good cars, who can i trust? All info will be very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Michael.

Yes, you can get a decent Corvette from that era for the price you've targeted (or much less depending on the configuration of the car, the condition it's in, and how much work you want to do yourself after the car's in country). My advice is to join the NCRS Dutch Chapter of NCRS (if you haven't already) and start talking to the guys in your country who've been there, done that, and gotten the T-shirt already.

I think you'll find Dutch locals like Rob Musquetier, Eric Strove, and others will bend over backwards to help/guide you in the process and you'll have fun and save $$$ in the process!!! Plus, they already have Stateside contacts (some like me who are also members of NCRS Holland) to call on to assist in looking at cars over here BEFORE you buy!

70K can get you a great 58-60 Corvette ,who you can trust I would never say unless I knew the person// weather it's a dealer or personal owner. I spend a lot of time talking with a person when buying a big $$ number item. Because your over seas I would have more then one person to look at what your buying to get a feeling from them about the Corvette you wont. Trust your feelings and if you have any worry pass it up. It would be well worth paying two or more people to check it out . It's cheaper then getting screwed for 70K.

          Michael,

If you find a car someplace in North America someone on this board is probably close and would inspect it for you. Don't be afraid to ask.

Join NCRS, there is a wealth of knowledge and most share it freely.
