    63 carpet

I have checked the archives for 63 coupe carpet installation, but cant find a clear answer.
I am interested in the area under the seat and at the tool pockets. The JM says, "The under seat carpet is cut to fit the toolbox depression, regrdless of the fact that the depressions are not present". (My car is an early version, ser# 105135 and has the tool depressions) "The four edges seen behind the seat , when in the forward position, are trimmed in grained vinyl".
    My questions:
Is the area where the seat adjusters mount, cut out in an H fashion, similar to the '66 ?(I saw pic's of a 66 posted here)
Is the square area around the toolbox cut out an bound ?
Or is the entire rectangular area under the entire seat, back and including the tool box cut out and bound ?
I would like to leave the area under the seats carpeted, cut out the sliderail/mounting pads and around the toolbox, since I will loose
some points anyway, because I used Dynamat under the entire carpeted area.
I just want to know, what is correct, and deviate only slightly, if I can...

I believe that there is an article in the Mid Atlantic Chapter newletter that covers this topic. Go to the contacts and follow the links

Dick & Mike, Isn't your newsletter on line now. If so could you please email it to me at johndegreg@aol.com My 63 has an old AK carpet and I wanna do like Ranier and figure out the tool box thing as I am confused. There were a lot of posts in the archives here about that but....... This subject was covered extensively a while back here by Hanson, Jorjorian, and others but I didn't keep up with it. Need to find someone who can make a correct carpet for my 63 with the proper binding or lack there of, etc. etc. Although Bill Sangrey said that would be impossible as he said no one has the correct material. But at least it would be an improvement over what I have now. Thanks, JohnD.
Course I believe I can get onto your website and get the article???

Dito for me with the request to email the newsletter. Rschwager6855@sbcglobal.net
I followed the link to the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, found the "Summer" newsletter but no article about the 63 carpet. There was an article on 62 trunkmats, an interesting article on a leaking rear main(I think I have the same , leaking Felpro seal) and a third article on chemical coating. But no 63 carpet...Was I looking at the wrong newsletter ?

            Re: 63 carpet

BTW I've seen copies of original GM drawings showing the depressions were not for a toolbox setup but for a powerseat setup (using hydraulics fitted in this area).

            greetings,
            Rob.

              Thanks, Rob.
I just dug-up my old, original carpet, which came out of the car. (Driver side only-lost the other side, didn't think I would need it since it was falling apart...)
It has the (4) pads, where the seat mounts, cut out. It was cut around the tool storage depression, not bound, except for 3" from the end, on the inside of the (2)rear "flap".
I will take a pic tomorrow and post it.
