I was wondering why I was always cooking my battery until I got this little gadget. $15 at Walmart and it told me that my voltage regulator was set too high. Was pushing 15.0 to 15.5V at high revs.
Checked this little meter with a digital voltmeter across the battery terminal and it is right on. Bless those C2 voltage regulators, that just with a little turn of a screw you can adjust the voltage to something more reasonable. Wish I could do that with my 82 El Camino.
The picture is after adjustment at a fast idle and hot. It now varies when hot between 13.5 and 14.5 regardless of speed and accessories on. Guess I'm ready for one of those repro R-59's to replace this overcooked Exide.
