The 57 JG is hard to tell on 1957 VIN 624 on wheather the thermostat housing should have bolts or studs and nuts on this early 270HP car. Anyone know which is correct? Also does not state wheather the temp. sending unit should have the Made in USA right side up or upside down as the 58-60's are. Any help here also. Thanks in advance.

Best to ask a 57 Team leader judge, and I'm sorry to say this but follow the JM weather anything is original or not. From the beginning of NCRS many people knowing the JM is wrong change parts to conform to the JM while hopping some day it will be changed . That is why there have been many second, third and forth editions of the JM. BUT keep the parts that you feel are original, so that some day you may find your self re-installing them!- Top

I've pulled perhaps 200 used temp senders off scrap yard cars over the years and I've seen several variations without rhyme/reason as far as date/era goes.
(1) Emboss is upright.
(2) Emboss is inverted.
(3) Emboss says '12V'
(4) Emboss says '12 Volt'
Different NCRS JG books read differently, depending on the year of Corvette and what input(s) the National Team Leader saw fit to publish. In addition to the above referenced four variations, I've also seen different sized font used in the emboss.
I find it hard to believe that there was only ONE machine at AC that spit out temp sending units and there's a 100% correct version of the neck emboss for those originally used on the Corvette assy line at St. Louis... But, our different JG books define different standards for what's considered right based on the specific model year we're judging!- Top
