    C1 Spinner Restoration

Reproduction spinners on the hubcaps of C1 Corvettes are not like the originals. Has anyone had luck from a shop that does an outstanding job of restoring the originals? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Other than looking for a resto set with a more distinct line with tapering on the perimeter, as well roughing up the reverse side (because the originals weren't chromed very well and tended to flake off)....there's not much you can do with them. They only cost a couple points in judging.....IF the judge even cares. Most judges think they're enough like the originals to be OK.

Any restored originals that I've seen over the years were over done. In most cases you lose detail such as the fine spiral lines in the cenmter. They just disappear with stripping, plating and final polishing. Rich
