C2 Engine Wire Harness - 1966

Can someone please tell me what direction the pops rivets are pulled from on the two wire harness retaining clips along the hood channel near the firewall. Looking at UPC 12 in the AIM, and the faded directions I got from Paragon, it looks like one is pulled from one direction and one from the other. That is, the LS is pulled into the engine compartment, and the RS is pulled toward the outside of the car. Is that really correct? Thanks for any help offered.

What page of the UPC 12 are you referencing?

I was looking at UPC 12 Ref A9 (p218 in my copy) and UPC 12 Ref A11 (p220).

The RS rivet direction is shown on p218, and the LS is shown on p 220.

ignore the picture, both sides are pulled from the engine compartment side. Any other option leaves the rivet end gouging the hood frame.

That's what I would have thought. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Pieces of my LS surround were replaced before I got the car so I couldn't check it. I had to redo the RS, but come to think of it,the RS was original and I still have that piece. Maybe I'll go out to the shed and see if the original rivet is still on the RS.

Ahhh, good question. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will, but for now I'll have to rely on this description to convey the installation. Like I said before, unfortunitly my LS was replaced so I can't tell what type of rivet was used nor what direction it was installed. I still have the original RS though. It has a Rosette rivet pulled toward the outside away fron the engine compartment. It does protrude into the hood "gutter", but not enough to interfere with the hood.

Interesting, never seen one put in that way, but many 66s had rosettes, some had solid, most had regular pops.
