I have checked the numerous threads on modern radial tires for 63 coupes, and have a pretty good idea, of what to buy.
My car should have white walls, because my rims are black. I know, I could go with black wall tires, but I would have to re-paint the rims body color (sebring silver), but I think, the car looks better with white walls.
Anyway, I settled on buying the tires from Diamond Back. The size I selected was 205-75/R15, Firestone. This desision was based on the numerous, excellant recomendations, here on the forum.
I received the tires this week, but they put the whitewall on the "inside" of the tires. In otherwords, the whitewall is on the tire, with-out "ANY" writing, such as Firestone, or numbers. The side is blanck with a white wall, 1" wide.
The "other" side has the Firestone writing etc.
I called them, they said, this is the only way they can put the white wall on.
They do have a Firestone Supreme, with white wall and the other writings, but it is a 215-70/R15. They said its their best seller, and are planning to send them out on monday, and take back the wrong tires.
My question is: Does anybody have those, or other 215-70/R15 on their car, and are happy with them ?
I read in one of the posts, that this size may interfere with the wheel arch on hard cornering.
Sorry for the long post...
