C1 61 62 door weathersrip

Hi ,

Part#'s 3784449 3784450. My early 62 original deteriorated door main weatherstrip has many of the little metal snap clips embedded in it to hold it in, rusted away. I saw a recent article that talks about making these up so I know that.

Did GM service replacements for the weatherstrips have plastic clips in place of the metal ones?

(as usual for me no luck in the archives)

i removed the metal tabs from my original 61 door main w/s's and installed them in the repo's available from Jay Price aka Corvette Rubber.don't think the repos had the plastic mushrooms but its been 10 years or so since i did the 61. good luck, mike

I think I'll do what you did, but I have to make or buy the clips as mine are shot. Is the end result deduction free?

I saw a 62 nos set on ebay. Yikes, they sold for $493! And they didn't even have the metal clips.

Bought a set in the late '70s for my '62 from GM had plastic mushroom clips
