    Corvette Owner Age Distribution Poll

Corvette owners are often stereotyped as being graying, empty-nest, mid-life crisis guys to outright geezers reliving their youth.

I believe the link below is encouraging for the future of the Corvette marque...it is a CF thread poll of Corvette owner ages. In my opinion, it shows stronger representation in those thirty-somethings and twenty-somethings than might be expected based on the popular stereotype.

Keep in mind that this is a limited sample, and that it may be biased toward the young and computer literate. Also, remember, as many of us will, that simply desiring a Corvette when you're young doesn't mean you can afford one...for a twenty-something to own a Corvette, he is REALLY pulling down good money, and/or he's single and living with his parents. Otherwise, Corvette ownership is often postponed to the forties or fifties.

As always, with the young, it's ALL about the performance...if some of these guys ever belong to the NCRS, they'll be interested in when the latest TIM&JGs will be published for the 2005-2007 models, not the 63-64s.

Well I fit the graying middle aged empty nest dscription but I have owned one or more Corvettes continuesly since I was 21. The only crisis I have is trying to get all of my projects done before I'm too old to play with them.

It's was hard to save money for my son and daughter but over the years I did
Have Corvettes I collected ,so when my Son wonted to start a business we
Took a 54 Corvette that we all enjoyed for years and Auctioned it off and
Gave him the money. He's now a Broker and doing better then I ever did and
Just bought a million dollar home .

My Daughter later sold our 57 Corvette and now along with her Husband has a
New home and started a Gun store.

My 12 year old granddaughter begs me every time to go with me in the 55
Corvette to car shows and pick her up at school in it. I have no need to
Ever sell the 55 and plan to give it to her (when I cant drive it anymore)
As her inheritance to help start her life
I have and looking for other Corvettes to restore to pass on. The best part
Is restoring Corvettes , enjoying driving them for years and giving my
Grandchildren a start in life with the money they get from them .
This is my hobby and I get to help the kids .

Heck no...you guys enjoy; I only turned 44 in August. (Yuk, yuk)

No, actually, this is the best my life has EVER been, and I wouldn't go back. Except for the aches, pains, lack of energy, poor vision, bad hearing, and slow/frequent/urgent urination, youth is way over-rated.

Well, gee whiz, I may be kind of not young anymore but when I bought my first '62 Corvette in '72, I was 19. Yes, I am now 54 and glad to be this old.

Bought my first and only Corvette ('59) when I was 20 years old, drove it for 250,000 miles, tore it down to restore it and rebuilt it to NCRS specs from the ground up. Been showing it ever since. Got Top Flight, Bloomington Gold and will get the Triple Crown in November. Plan to drive the car on a full ride on Route 66 in 2009. I will be 60 years old then and I will have met all my objectives with the car. I can die then!

Bought my first Vette a 58 270HP in Oct 69 at 17yrs old, for $600.00 Sold it in 74 for $1500.00 College tution, was glad to get it. Been foolin with Vettes and GM muscle cars ever since. Took the 67 L-79 out today thru the Canyon twisties. So-Cal shop owner Pete Chaphouris said it best "Drivin behind the wheel with 17 yr old eyes."

                        Chuck ,

You forgot to mention , receding hair line, slower metabolism, lower back pain, and slower reflexes. Other than that I agree with you !

I will be 50 in a few months, my hair is falling out, and I've put on 25lbs in the past year or so. Did I have any choice but to buy a Vette?

I'm 24 (25 in November), and surprisingly, I own a C2, and am not all that interested in the newer model Vettes as someone suggested. That's not to say that I wouldn't like to have one of those also, but to offset my age I should probably include the fact that I got into restoring corvettes because my father owns a 1961, but he's 60. So to avoid the stereotypes of gray haired middle aged men driving C1's C2's etc. I Guess even if you took the average age and car year.... 'we' would be 42 with a 1963 split window?
