    C2 differential noise

I have a '63 with a noisey differential. I have converted over to synthetic oils in both the engine and transmission with great success. Now, I have a noisey differential with the petroleum based hypoid gear oils plus the GM synthetic additive. My questions is: Can I use a synthetic gear oil such as Red Line gear oils and add the GM synthetic additive? Has anyone done this? Can I expect quieter gears?

How did you determine that the synthetics worked better than the 'petroleum' oils?
