    1968 Directional Switch

Yes, I have an assembly manual but I cannot find the turn signal directional flasher location. I know the 4 way flasher is on the fuse block The assemble manual says it is located behind the passenger side kick panel but it's not there. Has any '68 owner ever replaced theirs and can tell me where it really is? It's not behind the passenger side dash either. Thanks for your help.

I have never seen one located anywhere but the right side location as shown in the AIM. It's not actually behind the right side kick panel, though. It's attached to a clip that's attached to the lower right rear of the dash panel. Usually, you can reach up behind the panel and just pull it out of the clip as the connecting wires are plenty long enough.

I've never seen one on the left side, but I wouldn't rule out that's where some were located.

        Terry:

The turn signal flasher on my 68 is located exactly where and how Joe Lucia describes.

It's under the shifter console plate next to the windshield wiper relay.

They moved it to the passenger side dash panel sometime in '68.

          Have fun.

              Terry,

Mine is where Joe said. There is a clip attached to the lower right dash pad just before the vent.

You should be able to hear it, it's pretty loud.

Directional flasher and Hazard flasher are separate.

Hazard is on the fuse block. Directional is either under the passenger side dash or under the console plate depending on the vin.

In your AIM UPC 12 B4 shows the directional flasher in its second location. If you can read the Notes at the bottom right hand corner. It looks like the drawing was revised 2/20/68.

UPC 12 B7 in the Notes sym 11 indicates that the flasher was relocated. I cannot read the date but it looks like it was prior to 1/30/68 as that is the next note.

I probably have a picture somewhere of it from when I took my car apart. It was on the bracket next to the windshield wiper relay. I should be working otherwise I would try and find the picture to post.

                    Re: 1968 Directional Switch

I have seen a few early C3s with AC which have the turn signal flasher on the passenger side, but well up above the AC vents. On these it can be difficult to reach without removing the passenger side dash panel. Not necessarily on 1968s, but it is another place to look if the car has C60 and the turn signal flasher is not low on the passenger side dash panel as others have described.

My original owner 68's flasher is located on the left side of interior light for the passenger side in a clip. The location is also at the bottom of the dash panel and about 5 inches to the left of the speaker/kick panel. My original owner 70 with C60 (factory air conditioning) has the flasher located closer to the kick panel, just below the air conditioning outlet on the passenger side. Another real easy access to grasp the flasher and remove from the clip in order to replace the flasher.

Thanks to all who have and will respond. I have noted all possible locations of the flasher from your responses. I've all ready checked a couple out with no luck. Its not on the kick panel on either side of the radio. I feel like I'm going on an Easter Egg Hunt. If it helps, my '68 is a December '67 build car. Thanks again for all your responses. When I find it(it worked fine for years)I will post the location here on this thread.

I found it! Mine was located on the driver side radio kick panel, under the radio and very near the fiber optic light panel attached by a clip. I looked there last night but did not see it. Thanks to all of you who gave me all the locations to check. Why they put it there I have no idea.

Thanks Mike. Mine must be under the console plate because it's not on the passenger side. It's a Nov. 67 A/C car. I'll have to take a look to verify.
