    It's raining here

And made me think of the 56 Chevy Convertible I had years ago having EVERY option and accessory GM ever offered which some people here know I'm NUTS about . Back then we went to every Chevy show and it got plenty of attention because they recognize them. All but our rain sender, even they thought GM never had a thing like it! I had to carry a accessory book with us to prove it. One drop a water made the top close when armed . That 56 is what turned me on about accessories even tho NCRS isn't.
Some might remember even the BUICK future sport show car of the 50's talked about it.
OK with the rain coming down I just thought I would mention it and by the way I had a 57 Chrysler that had a South Wind GAS heater too// that I wrote about on how to restore it that Chrysler owners still use today!

    Roy,
You are correct about all the accessories at the Chevy shows. I have seen a lot of those auto top closers over the years. The 55-6-7 cars are usually loaded with stuff. The cars without all the stuff are the exceptions, not the rule. Sometimes I think thats what the car shows are all about. Accessory contest. I had a 55 convertable without bumper guards, grill guard, gas door guard, auto top, door handle guards, wonderbar, etc., etc. It looked like a poor stepchild when parked next to most of the other Belairs and Nomads but I liked it because it was different. But have heart, I sold the car 15 years ago and now it sports many accessories and I am sure its status is now higher at the family reunions.

i'm with you Dave. the fewer the accessories, the quicker they run , the less maintenance and more $ left over for the Beast. mike

you may be right about accessories. but I don't think so. My 55 with wire wheels will make you drool with all of it's pretty.

I love the look of wire wheels (although I know it is a bear to keep them in top condition). I still wonder why they didn't sell with these as an official GM factory option, they should have done that!!!

              greetings,

Back in '54-5, that is exactly what turned me on to Corvettes. With the wire wheels and headlamp wire rock guards, the car looked very Italian and sexy if I could say that being only 9 or 10 years old at the time. Anyway, I'm still hooked.
