Paint question for cove grills on a '62 ?

Hi,

I was at a chapter meet on the weekend with my '62, and a gentleman told me that only the very outer edges of my side grill fins should be polished aluminum? On my car each entire fin is aluminum, and the background plate where the screws are is black. Should the top and bottom of each individual fin also be black showing only a polished edge?

He was wrong, only the background is black. Each fin is polished and anodized aluminum. Rich

Thanks Rich, I didn't think he was right, but thought I should check to be sure.
