    C2 backup light firewall clip

Working with a 66. Can someone tell me how the factory interpreted "bond securely" relative to attaching the wire harness clip for the backup light wires. UPC 12 -C7 p. 234 says to bond this clip securely to the firwall. What did they actually do. That is, did the use a rivet, panel adhesive, gum, etc. etc. This clip is mounted just below the ballast resistor. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Brian. Do you know if that method is pretty consistent. The AIM does not call out a rivet. Thanks

Any C2 NOT have this clip/rivet with B.U. lights ?

Bob --- here's what the clip and rivet look like on my two '65s.

In 1965 AIM, UPC Z01, Sheet 1, item 4 (3799990) Clip (bond securely). I would think this may even be found in 1964's w/T86, and was standard in 1966 / 67 although I don't know on what page of the AIM.

This particular car is a late L78 S-body, although that may not make much difference. Same clip and rivet on my early S-body car.

Thanks for the response and the great picture Wayne. It looks as though in 65 they put the clip lower. It appears that in 66 and 67 it was higher as shown in the picture below. (not sure yet what the attachment method was). All the 66 and 67 pictures that I have been able to see so far show this clip closer to the ballast resistor. The pictures aren't clear enough though for me to see it there is a consistent attachment method used.

Just curious, does the 65 AIM show the clip being this low. The 66 and 67 are pretty clear that it is up higher.

          Again thanks for the response.

            Bob -

My June-built A.O. Smith '67 has it in the same location and orientation as your photo, but it's attached with a small-diameter flat-head body rivet.

Thanks for the additional info John. The devil's in the details.
