During the flight judging at Leavenworth, Wa., I received a deduct for a missing foam filter on the Air Pump inlet silencer. This item is unknown to my Chevrolet parts department. With a photograph in the 92-93 Judging manual I was able to make the item. Anyone in need of the item e-mail me or give me an e-mail address and I will give you the details. The item is like an original Freedom battery but it is not worth the amount of points one has to take. In the 93 service manual I see a filter on the silencer for the (LT-1) P-Engine but not on the (LT-5) J-Engine. Has anyone knowledge of these filters, if so let me know.

Re: Air pump Filter for 93 ZR-1
Ed-----
1993 Corvettes, regardless of whether LT1 or LT5 (ZR1), use the same electrically operated AIR pump. "Downstream" components are different, but "upstream" components are the same. The "filter" is an integral part of the "silencer" assembly, one of the "upstream" components, which is also referred to in GM lingo as a "duct". The filter was never available as a separate part----to get the filter you need to purchase the complete "duct".
Unfortunately, the "duct", GM #14104698, was discontinued without supercession a few years ago. I know of no reproduction source for it. Among the THOUSANDS of C4 parts that have already been discontinued, VERY few are currently reproduced. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Air pump Filter for 93 ZR-1
Joe,
For what it's worth I have a source for the custom manufacturing of the filter not the whole part. The LT-1 part looks smaller in the 93 manual and the whole part(filter) is not shown in the manual for the LT-5. Thanks for the info. If someone has a photo to show if the LT-1 part is smaller that the LT-5 filter I would appreciate the photo.- Top
