    Don -

Has the clip already been assembled into one piece, or are you working with all the loose pieces?

Don, I'm gonna go WAY out on a limb here and say that with the value of NOS '67 glass these days, AND 67 Corvettes, first time assembly of a front end with a book isn't a great idea, UNLESS there's a book that I'm unaware of that is a LOT more detailed than anything else I've seen. There're so many ways to screw up a scratch assembled front end it'd be impossible to remember em all. For instance, I've seen a couple of em over the years that had the surround bonded to the inner skirts at the wrong height, making hood fit impossible, (high in front) and have run across two different ones over the years that had the hood hinges cut and welded (shortened) trying to get the front of the hood down even with the surround. There was another one that had the support rods that go from the bottom of the core support to the bar bonded to the surround that had been cut and welded, changing the length, to correct some mistake in assembly that I either don't recall or never figured out.

I've got the same problem with the front edge of my 67' hood, it's slightly higher in front then the surround. My hood is about half the thickness of the fiberglass hood, about 1/8" too high and it's noticeable. Perhaps. someone "bonded the inner skirts to the surrpound at the wrong height" on my car, how can I tell for sure and more important what can I do to fix the hood height? I beleive there has been front end body work on my car, although the strips above the front wheels seem intact and everything else looks good.
Also, please tell me about cutting the hood hinges, is that the best way to correct the hood height or are there any other less noticeable ways to do this?

Before getting too involved in cutting up hinges, just add a shim or two to the rear bolt of the hinge mount at the innerfender. That will tip the hinge forward and lower the front of your hood.

I would take it to one of the two people that make the assembled aftermarket front ends and let them do it. It would be way worth the cost. In fact, I know I would do it that way. I would have them assemble it on their jig. I would plan on making a trip out of it and just get it done. They could set it up in a day, you could have it the next. Take it home in your truck or on a rented trailer. JMHO, Terry
