I very much appreciated the article published by Charles Cadenhead in the latest issue of the "Restorer". I did something very similar to a 1979 moons ago with Hella Optilux 1500 lamps behind the grille on a 1979. Safety in driving is definitely an issue and to this day those DRLs are still working on the car. I will provide a pic.
But with respect to Charles and his initiative, there is another option. The pic shows DRLs on my 1967. A module provides for lighting up the turn signal (bright) filaments of the parking lamps. The conversion is about $40.00 from a company in Ohio. You tap into the parking lamp pig-tail and not the front harness. Easily reversible. Just a comment and an option.
