    Re: AO Smith

    Hi Dick:

Is he interested in the rivet heads for AO Smith?

Attached is a photo from my AO Smith car. As I recall, the rivets used in St. Louis bodies looked quite different, like large pop rivets.

I am trying to explain the difference between A O Smith and St Louis but he would like pictures. I would hope pictures would help him under stand the difference between rivets, dimple or no dimple. He has a AO Smith trim tag and its a BB and side pipes. Long story............

              Hi Dick:

You mention the "dimple" and I presume that this refers to the dimple at the location where the power window conduit would be drilled. I had been told that this dimple only appears on St. Louis cars, but I *thought* I had subsequently seen discussion on this board indicating that it randomly apeared on both AO Smith and St. Louis cars. Can you or others here update me on the current view about the power window dimple?

                Re: AO Smith

Joe, In all the reading I have done, I can find no information that states that AO Smith cars had the "dimple". Can it show up?. Was it always there???.
The differences between AO and StL are know and are always going to be a subject for discussion by someone who needs it to be the way it appears on their car. But what do I know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure that there will be more responses to this thread, I hope.

                  Hi Dick:

I started another thread on this topic in hopes of expanding the discussion beyond just the door rivets and the dimple. I'm interested to know if there is some feature on the main body that is as easy to check as the door rivets.

There are some body modification on AOs around the area of the front bumper brace that run under the frame. They are notches. I will try to find those pictures. Check you e-mail for an article the helps to explain some of the differences and why.
