    C1 Bowtie ?Correct Soft Top.

My 1961 Bowtie (Survivor) candidate, has a worn out reproduction soft top, and an original hardtop.

Would I be better off for point deduction to have a "Pristine NOS soft top(rare I know) with incorrect dating, OR

A reproduction top with correct stamp dating.

I would think an original factory NOS top, even with wrong dating would be incredible on this 95%+ original car.

Doesn't matter - any one of those choices will fail that portion of the Exterior judging for Star/Bowtie.

You're missing the spirit of bowtie judging, Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The idea is the parts that were installed on the car---NOT parts that you or someone else have installed on the car to make it correct. What you are suggesting fits under flight judging rather than bowtie, because it is restoration.
If the hardtop is original and unrestored, that's what you would want to use.

        Ok, that helps.

        Yes,

Thanks for you help, as much as I don't know, this is very enjoyable to me, and I am having a lot of fun. I have a lot to learn. I have ordered a mass of books. This will surely help. So, having an original hardtop, and not having a soft top would not exclude the possiblity of Bowtie?, my hardtop is very original, with what appears to be properly dated, "worn in, but not worn out" windows, and seals.

        Thanks

Like John said any changes your making will deduct from Bowtie. Stop and just bring your car to judging event before you change clean or repair anymore of the car.
