TOE OUT REAR WHEELS/67 F41 CAR

If I was at the meet, I'd be asking you all but can't make it.

My rear wheels toe out slightly compared to the perdendicular frontones, I was hoping for a diagnostic sequence to check as I await my shop manual. Car has Redline radials and aftermarket Monroe shocks. Suspension is rebuilt, 4.11 rear posi. Fear springs might be worn. Hoping for an adjustment cure in lieu of replacing parts. Car ride feels normal, not floaty.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Rear wheel toe (and thrust angle) in is changed by moving shims at the front of the control arm. To increase toe in, move shims from the inboard side of (each of - if the thrust angle is zero) the control arms to the outboard side. Removing rusty cross bolts is not easy, and a selection of thin shims would be handy. Make sure the grommets are still viable, since they are necessary to maintaining the setting. The strut rod grommets should also be checked. These have been the cause of a lot of camber misalignment. - Dave

I agree with the previous post. If you can, have the car alignment checked on the latest Hunter Alignment machine. It gives you a color print out of the front and rear alignment and shows how much correction is needed. I had it done on my 66 after I had the trailing arms reworked. It only cost about $35 and told me exactly how much reshimming I needed to do.
