I'm restoring a 65 coupe and the driveline tunnel fiberglass has been broken where the luggage stop/support crosses over the tunnel. It has had a 4 inch wide strip of boat mat which appear to be original molded in to the pan as the top layer. Would this be a reinforcement to an obviously weak point in the floor pan construction or has it been repaired before? I want to make the repair as correct as possible. Dale

Re: Woven (boat mat) in a C2
Sounds like a repair Dale. Woven cloth wasn't used in OEM fiberglass panels. It will be tough to get a factory looking repair here, but random fiber mat will be a closer match. You can build it up thick on purpose and with some judious grinding with a dotco sander, sometime you can get a decent looking repair.

I agree with Tracy. I would add, Roven Woven can be peeled in layers and applied the same way. If you feather edge the area being repaired you can really get a nice layered fix. Use Wax paper and a backer board to create a shaping block or mold type fixture for preventing the Mat from sagging till cured. This is not an uncommon repair. Al W.- Top
