    Any GM 100 yr. celebration?

Has anyone heard or read about any GM celebration in 2008 marking their 100th year in business known as General Motors? My '58 will turn 50 and was wondering if the company had any plans to mark the occasion! With the way the American auto business is going, this milestone is one that shouldn't be ignored!

    Thanks

Steve, Yes, GM is working on it's 100 year anniversary as we speak.
I hear that the big celebration will be in Sept of 2008, in fact, it should be Sept 16th 2008, the day GM was officially incorporated by Durant.
My 1965 Corvette was honored to have been selected for display at the 75th anniversary at the GM Technical Center in Warren Mi. The event actually took place on Sept 24, 1983. There were 111 GM vehicles on display, with included only 7 Corvettes....................that's why it was such a big honored.

Since Chevrolet didn't become part of GM until 1918, I suspect, that it will take a back seat........pun intended.........again to the other name plates that were part of the initial incorporation.

They`l probably hang a bunch of chrome and some trunk bars on something. That would look nice on that ugly assed Corvette.

Already been done...took'em a couple of years to recover from the hangover. I doubt they'll repeat that mistake in this "less is more" era full of Camrys Accords, Lexus, BMWs, and Mercedes. Fifty years ago, who wudda thought that black wall tires would become, er...sporty...and standard equipment on the sportiest cars?

Hey...Don't be dissin' the "Best Vette Yet"; "beauty" IS as "beauty" DOES. I used to say it had a face like a catfish, and then I grew to love it.

Dick, What's this got to do with the 100th anniversary? As to answer your question..................I don't know.

Yes, Durant used Chevrolet to Buy GM back then lasted a short time until the Bankers threw him out again.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll have to wait until 2018 to celebrate Chevy's 100th anniv. since I don't expect to be too mobile in 2053 (I'll be 95)when the vette hits 100. But if I'm lucky enough to be verticle and not drooling on myself, I'll be in my '58 wherever they celebrate it.
