    Try www.gmpartsdirect.com

    Marty,

If you go to www.gmpartsdirect.com you can type in the GM parts number and if the part is still sold you will see the price. Both the bolt and washer you asked about are available, but each in a 5-pack.

      Gary and Marty-----

Yes, GMPartsDirect (as well as other web-sites) will usually tell you if a particular part number is currently available. However, that might not be the "whole story". For example, these sites will rarely tell you if a particular part which is not shown as available has been replaced, for SERVICE, by another part number.

In this particular case, the GM #3815933 will SERVICE the application perfectly, although it was never cataloged by GM for the 1974 application. The GM #3815933 is a 7/16-20 X 2-1/4" bolt of GM material grade 300M (SAE grade . It is zinc plated and the current version has a safety wire hole drilled through the head. It has a 1-1/4" unthreaded shank and 1" of threads.

The original bolt used for 1974 small block applications was of GM #9428643. This was also a 7/16-20 X 2-1/4 bolt of GM 300M material grade. However, it was phosphate-finished and had no safety wire hole. It had an unthreaded shank length of 1-1/8" with 1-1/8" of threads. It's discontinued but replaced by GM #9440024 which is virtually identical and remains available.

Although GM #14001829 is the washer cataloged by GM for the 1974 small block application, it's not the original washer. GM #14001829 was not used in PRODUCTION for any C3, although it's possible that it was used for some later 1982 models. The washer used in PRODUCTION for 1974 was GM #3739422. GM #14001829 became the SERVICE washer when the GM #3739422 was discontinued in 1983. The 2 washers differ slightly in some dimensions, but I've forgotten what the difference is.

Now, after all this "diatribe", do understand that the GM #3815933 bolt and GM #14001829 will SERVICE your application perfectly. However, they are not the original pieces used.
