    1965 Corvette regulator question

    Are there rubber inserts in the fender fiberglass from the factory that are used to hold the voltage regulator in place? Much like a dry wall plug? Please advise...Thanks

    Jerry - Somewhat similar in function but have a rubber coating. Look for WELLNUTs (L-1024) in the hardware store. Pete

      Peter, I saw some wellnuts for the voltage regulator on ebay recently.NOS they were called. Now with your info I am sure the market will be floaded with NOS well nuts as well as orange plugs. That's a lotta wells.
      So since you are into spare tire locks here is one for you key guy. Why don't you carve out a piece of cheep rubber for say my early 63 spark tire lock as your co-author friend Gary discovered that the repros are fake and not even close. Sorry Jerry for stealing your post. John

        Re: Wellnut regulator question

        Pete - John and ;
        Know the 64AIM shows the regulator attaching to fender glass with wellnuts, but everyone I've seen is on raditor support with no wellnuts. The judges OK that.
        SOooo when did the location change to fender glass AND did that start the use of wellnuts ?

          Re: Wellnut regulator question

          Alan - I don't know when the location change occurred but someone posted info about the location change in a previous thread about the voltage regulator attachment. Hopefully, you can find it in the Archives. Pete
