    Outside mirror

Two years ago I got an original outside mirror for my 69 Vette. Now it makes some trouble. Everytime I close the door it flips to the inside - in this way I have to adjust it every time I enter the car. On the other hand nearly the same happens when I drive 100+ mph on highway (Germany)- it flips to a nearly horizontal position.

What's the best solution to fix the mirror head? Can anyone give me some advice?

    Thanks

    Klaus

Klaus, time to change the mirror. Why do a quick fix and have it continue to bug you. Call Eckler's corvette supply. They can mail you the correct mirror. Inernational sales phone #1-407-269-9651 or fax #1-407-385-2102. The area code may have changed to 321 if not still 407.

1968-74 corvette chrome mirror, left side (small head)=$68.00 and part no.A1390L. RT. side same style style cost less, $60.95 and part no.A390R.

There are other dealers and maybe you can get more companies to compare prices and get phone numbers from. Sorry, nearly all my catalogs are 63-67. I would try to get many catalogs if you don't have. Eckler's will mail you one.grr#33570

        Re: Outside mirror

Remove mirror from car, soak mirror head in lacquer thinners until mirror falls out (2-24hours) peen over rivets to tighten up ball. Reglue (with silicone caulk) mirror glass to mirror housing reinstall mirror on car after silicone dries 160MPH mirror

If you have Loktite Blue thread cement, use it. Clean the ball pivot (as well as you can), then apply a drop or two to the ball. That increases it's coefficient of friction. My passenger door mirror used to give me trouble. I applied the cement a year or two ago. It has been fine since then. If that doesn't do it, I agree with grr - get a new one and save the headaches. - Dave
