Re: 57 vin #s
Mario,
Your car was built in May 1957, approximately Friday the 10th.
The block is the correct casting number but the stamp is for a passenger car, 2 barrel with powerglide. The engine build date is May 9th. The heads are probably passenger car also.
It is not possible to tell which transmission was originally in the car with the information you have.
A 57 Corvette should have a block casting number of 3731548 and the build code should begin with an F.
Corvette heads should be either 3740977 or 3731539, depending on what horsepower.
Tell us more about the car.

The T509F says that's a Tonawanda block, and they were never used in Corvettes - only in passenger cars and trucks; you need a Flint block. Tonawanda blocks use two digits for the year portion of the casting date code ("57"), and Flint blocks use a single digit ("7") for the year. Flint blocks also have a square-head 1/8" NPT plug at 11 o'clock above the timing cover - Tonawanda blocks don't.
