    New, OK. Trim Tag Law

    OOOOOhhhhhh, Nooooooooooohhhhhh!

OK, lessee now........calm down, have a couple martinis.

What am I gonna do now, with my red/black '67 427/435, that I made, er, restored BEFORE forensics made phony (Corvette) trim tags a dead issue. Car is 2003 NCRS National Top Flight, Duntov, Bloomington Gold, Vettefest Triple Crown winner.

Golly, gee whiz, I was gonna leave this car to my grandson in my will................woulda made him a billionaire someday.............a real family heirloom.

Goodness gracious! Where the heck did I leave that original Goodwood green/ green vinyl trim tag.

Wonder what should I do with all of these awards. Can I donate them to charity for a tax write-off?

    Dudley Do Right,
    Prosaic Teem Corvettes

This is an update of an 1865 law regarding changing brands on horses. You'll be lucky if they don't hang you.

This could get interesting if the law would be in all states.

As an Oklahoma resident, I don't know how they will enforce it unless as someone pointed out on the other board that it could give you legal recourse.
When registering a car here the tag agent must inspect the S.N. Problem is, unless it is at the base of the windshield, they don't know where to look for one. I can see this law causing confusion for a new solid axle owner trying to register a car here that "Must have been modified" because it does not have a trim tag in place. Looks like you might just want to register it as a 1952 Chevy to circumvent the law.

The way I read it is if you buy a 67 427-435 in OK and you find out when you have it judged the trim tag is fake you have grounds to recover damages.

I think this is for real as the link at the bottom where you read about it on CF takes you to a page that looks to me as a real OK state site.

Interesting, but not restricted to just Corvettes. With the prices of 67-69 Camaros, Chevelles, reaching mid-yr range. Magically trimtags become X-77, X-33, Z-28 cars, X-22 or X-66 396 cars. With all the desrable color combinations and of course M-22 Rockcrushers 4-speeds.

Here is what you do. Paint the car green & put in a green interior. Buy another matching repo trim tag from JC & put it on the car. Show buyers a faded copy of the car red/black 67 tell everyone the other owner liked G/G & changed trim tags. No one would beleave anyone would change a trim tag to green.
PS I have a green/black 400 air coupe. as far as I can tell it has to be very rare as thay only made a few less than black. Black Book be damed. I see all the black 67's out there for sale. NCRS must have the production #'s wrong. That's my story & I sticken to it.
