67 recovered seats w/wrinkles sorta loose looking

I was just over at the restoration shop today and noted my new seat covers were installed and seats completed. Stnd/blk/vnl. I noticed a loose wrinkle in a couple areas such as the area under your thighs in center of one seat and the upper left corner on other. I did use the original foam. The original covers that came off were dated 12-66.They never had these loose wrinkles just old but not bad looking or ripped. Originals.

I don't know if these seats were sent out and covered elsewhere or not. But I have always thought you would use a heat gun to stretch the seat material to get a tight fit on the corner (seat & back)areas so you would avoid these loose wrinkles. I plan on having them repair this flaw but would appreciate any input on what wasn't done right to make them fit tighter.grr#33570

When you put new covers on you should always use new buns, no matter how good the original look they loose some shape. The heat gun is used to get the covers soft to get the new buns in like 10 lbs. of ---- in a 5 lb. bag.

Re: 67 Seat Covers,Re-using new covers on new foam

Thanks guys. I knew it when I saw them. Cut one corner on a job and eat sh** when the job is completed. Thanks for the wake up call.

Do you see any problems "re-using" the new seat covers again on the new foam?

I was surprised that the seat covers were marked 12-66, Car is a early Feb/67. The car is all original even the shocks just old. Thanks again,grr#33570

          GRR:

Shouldn't be a problem for a good installer, then again if he were good he should have advised you that new foam would produce better results. You might want to look into another installer.

Re: 67 Seat Covers, new foam ordered

Jerry, thanks. Agree. Will have done. I'm saving all this stuff like the old seat covers as they are dated 12-66 (car is 2/67 coupe)also the foam should be dated as nearly everything I've taken off has original dates or whats left of them. Maybe someday when I sell the car this will help in proving car was stock or unrestored until this summer 2000. Thanks again,grr#33570.
