Balance dots on new Red Lines

I have these new GoodYear redlines for my 69 that I plan to get mounted this week but before I do I have a question.

The blue dots in the pic...are they supposed to index with the valve stem? I figure that they are but I find it odd that they are on the blackwall side and not on the redline side so I wasn't sure.

Two have the blue dots(the one in the front looks pink for some reason but it is blue), one has a pink daub and the one in the far back has no markings at all so they are not all the same if in fact these marks are for balancing. What do you guys think?

I'm just trying to make sure that the tire shop gets them as close as possible so that they have as little weight as possible.

    Thanks,

    Greg Linton

Are each of those dots adjacent to the tire serial number?....Marty

If they are the balance dots, they line up with the welded "BB" om the rim.

Yes they are next to the s/n....guess they are not balance points then and should probably be removed...

Why not call the Co. that made the tires? *NM*

Typically tires come from the factory marked for minimum balance weight installation. Red dots are what is typically used as marks on the tires.

The convention is to align the red dot on the tire with the corresponding 'mark' on the wheel. This is often a daub of welding material on the outer rim. But, not all wheels are so marked with the variance being time of manufacture and precision of native balance.

If the wheel doesn't have a balancing mark, align the tire's balancing mark with the valve stem hole for optimum installation...

On current production tires, those "dots" are related to the tire's radial runout, and are to be aligned at mounting with a similar mark or sticker on the wheel so the high point on the tire is matched to the low point on the wheel so the resulting assembly has the lowest possible total radial runout. Look at new cars coming off the haulaway trucks at the dealer and you'll see the matched-up colored dots/stickers before the prep guy removes them. They're unrelated to balance.
