question re: C1 console

Is the "bottom" of the console really the hump that goes down the center of the floor? Or, is there a flat piece that sits on the hump inside of the console to make the "floor/bottom" of it?

The transmission hump is the bottom.

Thanks Wayne- we got a part at Corvette Carlisle last yr where someone claimed it was the base, but it didn't seem right to me. Thankfully they only scammed us for 10 bucks.

There is a flat piece that goes into the console bottom that covers the "hump" (so when you look inside the console, it has a flat bottom). It is made of fibergalss and has 90 degree bends on the passenger and drvers sides, it is also tapered from front to back. It usually has a large clump of resin on the bottom (hump side) so it sits flat . I just found one on ebay that was missing from my car since the 80's - lucky to fine it!!

Wow, thanks Bret! Maybe what we got IS authentic then, b/c it has the same features you describe.
