Re: I Know How You do That!

    Kelly,

    Look here:

    http://www.caranddriver.com/features...e-classic.html

The Chevrolet Impala is one of America's most-enduring automotive nameplates. In this article, you'll learn about the genesis and evolution of this iconic badge and why it outlasted so many others.

I suspect the 3900 pounds mentioned by Car and Driver is a station wagon, and the sedan is 3500-3700 depending on options.

You could always have yours weighed and let us know.

          I Would NEVER, EVER...

Try to impress my Corvette buds with a post revealing details like that one...I don't care if such behavior allowed me to get 500 MPG!!!!! (Yuk, yuk)

I remember a story a friend told me once about a co-worker that bought a new car, and just wouldn't stop bragging about what good gas mileage the car produced.

After listening to this bragging for a couple weeks, my friend and other co-workers grew tired of it, and decided to have a little fun with the situation. Each day in the parking garage, they would add a little gasoline to the guy's tank in increasing amounts. Obviously, low gasoline prices would facilitate such a prank.

Each morning he would come in bragging ever more loudly, and they kept increasing the amount of gasoline they added, until finally one day the guy didn't say anything. He was simply beyond belief that the car could get such mileage...it was into the triple digits! So they gave him a day or so to ruminate on this development, and then they started siphoning gasoline out in increasing amounts.

Slowly, the braggard's disbelief degenerated into despair as his mileage sank to single digits. After it was clear he was cured of gas mileage vanity, they let him in on the joke.

So, Kelly, "What's (or Who's) in your tank??!!"
