    Mid 69 timing mark

I have a mid year 69 and it has some early 69 things, and some late 69 things. My motor has been rebuilt (before I bought it), and I was wondering what timing mark I am supposed to have. Right now it has a 10 degree timing mark on the torsional damper (which I know is not the original damper). When I tried to time it, it was way off...(the timing mark and pointer are obviously not the same degree marking). Does anyone know when Chevy switched from 2 degree to 10? I am either gonna buy a new damper or timing pointer, but I don't know which one is wrong. Thanks

    Re: Mid 69 timing mark

My '63 has a timing tab welded to the timing chain cover. Beginning about 1969 Chevrolet used a bolted on timing tap that was secured with the timing cover bolts, and I think the index mark on the balancer changed so you have to have the correct balancer for the type of timing tab.
