To some degree, it depends on the year we're talking about. However, assuming that we're talking about 1969, the nut was cadmium or zinc plated. The washer, which was a special wave washer, was also zinc plated.
The fans were zinc or cadmium plated. Some maintain that these fans were painted black. Some may have been for 1968. However, for 1969, I've never seen a known original that was anything other than zinc or cadmium plated. The original on my original owner, late-build 1969 was zinc or cadmium plated; the original on a friend's original owner, early build 1969 L-46 was zinc or cadmium plated.
The pulley was zinc or cadmium plated regardless of configuration. Several differently configured alternator pullies were used for 1969, depending upon application. It's possible that some of the machined steel pullies had a chromate overplate ("gold") over the zinc or cadmium plate. However, I doubt it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
