    61 steering problem

Had my steering box re-built and I re-built front end.
New bushings, Kingpins, etc. I still have major play in
the steering wheel. Checked adjustments in box, they seem
    in spec.
Could the problem be in the 'connection rod' ? I don't
know if the end adjusters should be super tight or just snug.
If they are supposed to be real tight, ie: to compress springs somewhat,
What tool can I use? I tried large screw driver ---- Isn't working..
Any Help would be really appreciated......

    Jerry -

If you haven't rebuilt the drag link, get the kit and do it. The kit will have new springs and ball stud seats, and the procedure in in the ST-12. You also might want to take a look at the third arm - they usually need a new bearing and seal.

Thanks John... Just ordered the re-build kit. forgot to mention
that I did change the third arm. (original had slight bend).
Also installed new bearing and seal. I have zero movement in third arm.

My biggest concern is how tight should the end caps be and is there a tool to do this ?

Not sure about the "how tight" part. I thought the ST-12 specified that.

The tool is called a "drag link socket." Sears has them.

The drag-link = at each end turn it in till it's snug to the spring ( no play)and then give a 1/2 turn tighter and install the carter pin.

                  John

Just one other question. The on line Paragon catalog doesn't show a rebuild kit. Where else can I look ? (Paragon has been my ONLY source).
