C1 Conv Top Front Latches???

Hi,

I see this on ebay and I'm confused. The handles on my latches on my 59 and 62 seem a lot shorter than this. If this is nos why is the handle longer than my originals? I need/want/desire nos for my 62 project but this seems different. It says original box and the part # is correct.

Those would be the new old replacement stock parts, that GM issued. Yes, the handle is longer than the originals that came on the car.

And I just read my JM if the handle is longer it will be a deduction, as well as the longer handle will hit the header frame. Another case of nos vs nors and buyer beware.

Yes another reason you need to know what a real part LOOKS like and not by the the part # which many were carried over to a second design issue replacement
I wrote about them in 1991, and again they are different for soft to and hard top which even today many people dont know and the JM dont mention.

This a C-2 latch. Chevrolet discontinued the C-1 short handle latches and replaced them with the C-2 design, they fit and worked so for years eveyone was happy until NCRS came along. Rich # 2276
