    Original Trans cooling line clamps?

Does anyone know where to buy the original type clamps for the transmission cooling line hoses that mount near the radiator on a 75? I've heard the clamps were the crimp type and required a special tool. I'm curious if there are any of the tools and clamps available for rent or purchase.

I'm currently using worm clamps and no matter how tight I make them Trans fluid still leaks out. I'm going to replace the hose and if necessary the inlet and outlet pipes.

Thanks for your time and information.

    Eric-----

The information that I have indicates that the original clamps, GM #9420534 or 9424894, were a conventional, worm-type hose clamp of size range 1/4"-5/8". In any event, whatever they were, GM replaced them for SERVICE with GM #2494772 and, later, GM #25518880. These clamps are definitely worm-type hose clamps, the former being of zinc plated steel construction and the latter of stainless steel construction with a 5/16" wide band. GM considers that these clamps will SERVICE the application and I think they will, too.

I'd say your problem relates to either the condition of the tubes or the condition of the hoses and not a real inability of the clamps to seal the connection.

You can still get the 25518880 from GM if you wish. However, I don't think it will be any different from a stainless steel hose clamp of the size specified you can purchase at an auto parts or hardware store. These clamps are typically manufactured by Norton Industries or Ideal Industries and I would expect that one of these is GM's source.

Thanks so much for the info Joe. For some reason I expected the originals were the crimp type. Yes, the more I look at the problem I suspect it is an old hose and/or tube.

      Thanks again.

Eric on replacing the fluid hose don't use gas line rubber hose. I did on my 70 and although the hose was new it ruptured. I was close to home and walked home and got some more of the same to put on, but only to get it home. I don't know if new hose for the transmission lines is available from GM. I went to a establishment that makes up hydralic hose with new crimped ends and bought some hose. Did want my repair to last and bought steel lined hose.
