    Carter AFB numbers question

I have a 64 with powerglide. I'm trying to locate a correctly dated carburetor. As best I can tell there were three possible carbs used on 64 powerglide cars. Carter 3460 was used on 63's and very early 64's (September 63 built). Carter 3720S was used on October 63 built 64's. Carter 3720SA was used from November 63 through the end of the model year. Of course, my car is an October 63 build. To be correct, am I looking for a one month only carb....3720S? I haven't found any 3720SA's dated prior to November 63. I have actually located a 3720S that is dated K3 (Oct 63) but it is damaged beyond repair. That is the only K3 carb I've found. Do I have my facts straight? Am I looking for a "needle in a haystack" or can I expect to find a 3720SA dated in Oct 63? This is the only properly dated part that I have been unable to locate.
    Thanks, Jim

    Jim,

If you car is October build you may need to look for a 3460 J3 date carburetor. Do you have any September dates on other parts? My 63 is second week November 1962 build but parts are about three weeks/one month behind.

The alternator is original and is dated Sep 63. I was trying to build all the other dates around this one. It was no problem with the regulator, starter, etc., but apparently there were a couple of carb changes around this time. I'm trying to figure out which one is acceptable.
