C2 Dust Shields

Is there a correct/normal way that the rubber dust shields are installed on the inner fender. I'm talking about the ones that have 4 and 2 staples to attach them, not the big ones around the A-Arm. My originals are long gone, and the replacement ones I bought have a set of ridges running the length of the rubber in approx the middle. Question is, do the lines face inboard or out. Thanks.

On my originals, the ridges are facing the frame.
