    Rotor Runout

I just had a pair of new rotors and and my hubs turned by my local machine shop and ended up with five thousands runout on both. My question is:Is this too much for a -66 car.I know what the service manual says but my machine shop is convinced that this is acceptable. Thanks, Pete

    Re: Rotor Runout

My 67 rear rotors have as much as .005 runout and I haven't had to bleed the brakes for at least 2 years. Less would be better. Be sure to check the runout with the rotors installed. You didn't mention whether they were front or rear. The TOTAL runout shouldn't exceed the .004-5 level. I was having a problem with my rears sucking air and found that one of the rear rotors had in excess of .025 runout. I had that one turned and the problem ceased. The other has .004-5, but has not caused a problem at that level so far.

Corvettes are very susceptable to problems when runout is excessive, because of the non-floating caliper. One thousandth is the standard for good shops on Corvettes, I think you should find one in your area

Re: GM Buy Back - Lemon?

Ron over on the Corvette Forum there is a dealer in Montana that might make you a deal. The car can be deliverd from the factory to your local dealer.
