    Quality Paint

I'm looking to paint my 66 and wnat to make sure the paint used is a quality paint that others have had good results with. I've been told Sikkens, dupont and House of Colors. What do you reccomend?

    Re: Quality Paint

I am not sure whose product that House of Color uses, but PPG, DuPont, Sikkens, and several other major suppliers paint are good quality. Just stay away from the bargain products.

      Re: Quality Paint

House of Kolor is the company founded by Jon Koslowski...according to him, he developed the specifications for most of their products which far exceed other manufacturers. ("Sure, HOK costs more; but it's actually cheaper because you use LESS of HOK products!") Jon Koslowski was bought out by Valspar, but remains as product development consultant and policy maker for the company.

House of Kolor is strictly a custom paint operation...exotic candy colors, pearls, etc. DuPont has a similar paint line called Hot Wheels (I'm not making this up. ) In my opinion, HOK won't be able to help you much with an original 66 Corvette paint color...unless you want them to mix up some Sunfire Yellow with a special twist. Hmmmm...Come to think of it,not a bad idea; call it Trinity Site Yellow.

I used Standox paint when I did our c-1 (60) back in 92. Still looks good today.

All the paints you mention will give excellent results. More important is the degree of preparation and the skill of the applicator. Al W.

            Re: Quality Paint

75% of a quality paint job is done before the paint is sprayed. you can use the best products and spray them on a body not ready for paint and the paint will not look good. good prep can make cheap paint look good.
