    Faulty Tach

I have a 67 BB, and my tach is way off. When the engine is off, the tach reads well below zero RPM. The needle is literally straight up and down. When you start the engine, when you are at what sounds like 1000rpm, the guage is at zero, obviously when you take it up to 2000 rpm it shows around 1000 rpm. Whats up???I thought maybe it needed lube because of resistance, but why does it go well below zero when you shut the engine off.

The needle has probably been removed, replaced or slipped. I would take it out and to a speedo shop. They can adjust it to read correctly with the cable speed.
