The interior of my original radio from my 69 is covered with oil, due to a blown oil pressure gauge line. Is there a safe way to clean the radio without harming it? Also how can I test the output leads to see if the radio is operational. It is not in the car right now, but sitting on my bench. Thanks for the help, Mark

Re: C-3 radio question
I'd disassembly the entire unit and gently use carb cleaner on the non-plastic parts. Just make sure it's dry before you power it up. I wouldn't normally use carb cleaner for cleaning electronic components, but the oil will conduct electricity and interfere with the proper function of the radio, so you need to make sure that you get all of it off of the board.
To test the output, you'll need to plug in the convector (the transistor mounted in the heat sink). It's mounted high and to the right in the dash on the passenger side (may be different in an A/C car, I'm not sure). If the original wiring is where it belongs, the plug should be near the radio cavity. There are two wires in the plug. Good luck.- Top

Re: C-3 radio question
I concur with Louis. CRC Electronic Cleaner is the best cleaner for your application. DO NOT use any chemicals that are designed for anything other than electronic circuits or you risk destroying valuable and rare componets.
Good luck.
