Has anyone ordered, or more importantly received, a set of the new BO KOs that AFC(America's Finest Corvette's) is selling. I ordered mine 5 months ago and I am still waiting for the rest of the parts to arrive. Anyone else having an issue? Thanks.
I talked to the guy at great length at Bloomington Gold and have been calling every month or so. The story he has been telling (pretty consistently) is that he has had trouble getting GM to approve the fastening method on his starburst center caps. He had devised an attachment method, thought everything was all set and that was turned down. He revised the attachment and has now been waiting for approval. Talked to him at the end of last week and he said he could start shipping at the end of October. I too have been waiting- got a new set of redlines waiting to go on my '67.
If you have been getting a different story let me know. The wheels looked very good when I saw them at B'gold. Jim Baker
Spoke with Virginia Vette about the hardware issue the other day. He confirms the fact that AFC has an issue with the bolt-on/starburst hardware. Auto Accessories of America refuses to sell their hardware kit separately fearing that this would enable AFC to compete with their superior wheel design. Competition drives improvement....let's hope AFC can bring it on...soon!
Thanks Jim(s) for the info. All that is new to me. I ordered the wheels back in June. Got everything except the spinners at the end of July. Then I got a new set of cones the end of August that are supposed to fit better . I could't tell if they were better because I still didn't have the spinners. Finally in Sept I got my spinners. Good news bad news. The bad news is that they didn't have "OFF -->" stamped into them. Back they went and I have been waiting ever sense for new ones. He keeps telling me next week, next week. Never said anything about the issues you described. Hmmmm.
It just occured to me that you guys appear to be talking about the 67 bolt ons. I'm having trouble getting my 66 direct bolt on knockoffs. I hope he is not having an issue with that attachment method also.
Bob....all the bolt on wheels are identical...63 through 67. The only difference is inter-fin finish and hardware kit. The hardware kit includes the faux knock-off adapter, spinners, cones, and caps...or...the 67 like starburst centers.
Thanks for the reply. I knew the wheel was the same, I was wondering about the starburst attachement method as referenced in the earlier responses. It sounded like AFC was having trouble getting approval on the attachment method for the 67 starburst. I wasn't sure though if his attachment method for the spinner was the same as the starburst or not.
Does anyone know how America's Finest Corvettes is doing relative to the 195,000 acre Witch fire? Last I read the fire was 1 mile east of the city of Ramona, which is the address for AFC. Some friends with property in Ramona said the fire crossed their property, so some Ramona addresses have been hit by the fire.
Gary, AFC shop was spared the fire but his wharehouse with a huge collection of Corvettes and old parts was leveled by a backfire set to burn off brush! Micheal said spinners and other parts were being shipped next week, not much UPS service in Ramona as you can guess. Sounds like the center pieces and spinners etc. are on track now. Ramona just reopened today so the ash and debris is not helping. We were spared here by a mile or so, I'll try to visit next week to see the mess up in Ramona.
