On-line Judging School

Has there ever been any thought of conducting an on-line judging school by the NCRS. The reason I bring this up is a posting in reference to an air cleaner for a 1961 FI car. I asked the question, How would the after market FI air cleaner judge? I would like to know what a knowledgeable judge would looked for when judging an FI air cleaner, and read the discussions between different members. Pictures and examples would help with the learning process. The information would not only help with the restoration process, but would provide a base of knowledge for new judges.

I don't know about NCRS doing that but people using this forum are! When ever I see a camera logo I look to see what is being discussed .
Schooling is on going right NOW! with great knowledge given here every day by unselfish members tempting to teach others what they have learned . You get pic's of parts showing the part design that you cant find in the JM. I've seen people ask questions and get back pic's from members that took the time to take them and post the answer. I don't think you could ask a question on this forum and not get an answer and pic. Showing what a real part looks like and most are not instructors or a 1000 point master judge ( just hobbyist) . This is the only reason I'm part of this forum and stay away from politics . That's my 2 cents worth **

Thanks for the response Roy and keep up the post, I enjoy reading them. The point that I was trying to raise is to the judging of a part. I believe some one posted that if a part (in this case it was a reproduction FI air cleaner) was judged at a chapter level, it might slip by and not receive a deduction. If the same part was to be judged at a regional or national level it may receive a deduction. This is knowledge of members like your self that have seen, touched and judged many times. I would like to gain as much knowledge as possible, but until retirement comes; this forum, chapter meets and the occasional vacation to a regional or national meet is where my experience will come from.

It was just a thought!

Well in the real world being judged say back East it may get by, then again out west it may not, it can be a crap game some times weather chapter or national event.

Try Vetteheads

Try Vetteheads they will pick your car apart from photos and tell you what needs to be changed for judging. They have a virtual judging school form. Both sites the NCRS and the www.Vetteheads.com were very helpful when I was restoring my 65.

Things to consider...

Judging schools tend to 'general' in nature because the Flight process covers a WIDE range of cars (different configurations from 1953-1993). Yes, most judging schools DO include specific examples of this/that part and this/that installation, but your question indicates you want to get REAL SPECIFIC about an individual rear and individual part/component. Don't expect that to be addressed in a 'normmal' judging school....

For rifle shot issues like the '61 FI air cleaner, you're best off to specifically query the cognizant National Team Leader after seeing if the current issue of the Judging Guide doesn't address the issue. Also, it's one thing to ask questions via electronic media, and quite another to get up and go to where the rubber meets the road (attend a Chapter/Regional/National judging meet) so you can interact personally with different judges and actually see the the judging process live!

Most chapters conduct a judging school once (or more) each year and this is a GREAT place to get experience/knowledge. Plus, schools and tech sessions are routinely part of Regional/National meets. Last, Roy Sinor HAS taken a 'wack' at packaging the judging school process by creating a 5-part DVD series that's available to every Chapter Judging Chairman for local use.

Bottom line, don't look to the DB or on-line resources... Get active/involved in NCRS, obtain the benefits of social interaction with your fellow club members, and you'll get the training/information you seek!
