    Engine stamping

    Hello everybody out there,

on Saturday I visited a Corvette meeting in Munich. There was a wonderful 69 T-Top Vette. The car had a 427cid/435HP engine. But I'm wondering about the engine stamping. It was CE960449. What does this combination mean ?

    Thank you for your help

"CE" is a Chevrolet replacement block.
1969 Riverside Gold Coupe, L71, 14,000 miles. Top Flight, 2 Star Bowtie.

My understanding is that the first number after the CE is the year of production. Mark

Klause, CE means Crate engine, or replacement block. In 1969 the 435 hp engine suffix was as follows- LX auto trans,LW with auto trans and aluminum heads,LP with 4 speed and aluminum heads, LR 4 speed or manual trans. So you have a crane engine.grr#33570
